From the words of Britney Spears, "Oops, I did it again." I didn't want to be cussing on the phone and feeling really mad at this person such that I'd be lashing out.... but it happened. Then I questioned myself. Am I a bad person? Next started playing the negative self-video in my mind. Luckily, God drew me into his loving arms and through prayer and surrender, He reminded me that I am forgiven. Anger is a real emotion with which God equipped me, to be used for my information, not to condemn me. Another successful rescue mission on his part!
Isn't this the Christmas story of our lives? Jesus's birth in a lowly manger gives us life and sets us free from bondage. He came to save the world, yes, but he also came to testify to the truth!
The truth is, that it may take me many tries to get it right. The cycle of bad behavior and lashing out is hard to break! 70x7 times even. But no matter how bad I mess up, God is there to forgive me so I can then forgive others. He meets me right where I'm at and that gives me peace, self-acceptance and the confidence to press restart.
This week as I light the purple candle of joy and then on Christmas Day the white Christ candle, the entire wreath will be lit in a circle of care. And I rest knowing that God recirculates the bad for good.
